How it All Began....

The society was originally formed on 13th November 1982 with the objective ‘to encourage appreciation of art and art forms for all within the local area and to further this knowledge by means of meetings, lectures, demonstrations, exhibitions and kindred activities’ and is open to anyone to join.

The first meeting of the then Cofton Hackett Art Society was on 8th January 1983, later the meeting place moved to Longbridge Methodist Church and so the name changed to the Lickey Hills Art Society.

The society has always been a popular club and has met on the first Saturday of every month (excluding January) ever since. The programme of demonstrations is delivered by experienced and talented artists and has always been varied covering many styles and mediums. The current membership ranges from those with an interest in art to experienced artists. Although we do not hold organised lessons, beginners will find the more experienced members are always willing to provide tips and support.

Our members' exhibition 2018 at the Artrix Arts Centre, Bromsgrove was a great success with over 120 paintings on display and 20 paintings sold. We will be holding a further exhibition at the Artrix in September 2019, this is exclusively for members so join us and have the opportunity of exhibiting or come along to see our exhibition and have the chance to purchase a work of art by a local artist. So, if you have an interest in art why not come along our next meeting.

If you would like to enjoy local art on display this will be an excellent opportunity to see art at it's best and maybe purchase a painting by a local artist.
